IO-Dynamics and Rabot Energy join forces: Intelligent fleet and energy management meets dynamic electricity tariffs

Lower costs, greater predictability, a better carbon footprint: IO-Dynamics and Rabot Energy are making electromobility even more economical for fleets. By combining smart charging and fleet management (IO-Dynamics) with dynamic electricity tariffs (Rabot Energy), electric vehicles can be charged precisely when power is cheapest and when renewable energy levels in the grid are highest.

The all-in-one platform from IO-Dynamics plans charging processes proactively: it factors in tariff windows, routes and downtimes, PV generation and grid capacity. This ensures charging is cost-optimised, reliable and climate-friendly.

Real-world use in logistics

A regional logistics company is already demonstrating how this works in practice. Its depot operates eight Mercedes eActros electric trucks, charged via three DC fast-chargers with capacities of 150 kW and 400 kW, supported by a 425 kWp PV system.

IO-Dynamics’ smart charging and fleet management coordinates charging times and priorities based on routes and downtimes, integrating PV generation as a first choice. Surplus solar power generated at midday is stored for later use, while depot load peaks are smoothed. Combined with Rabot Energy’s dynamic tariff, the trucks are automatically charged in low-price windows – for example at night during low wholesale prices or when renewable energy availability on the grid is high.

The result: electricity costs drop by up to 25%, equating to annual savings of around €45,000. At the same time, the CO₂ footprint improves thanks to a higher share of renewable energy, while fleet reliability is maintained even in times of volatile electricity prices.
